To give students the skills and knowledge that will equip them for life through a high quality computing education where pupils develop computational thinking and creativity through a purposeful, rigorous and enjoyable curriculum.
At Mulberry Stepney Sixth Form we offer ‘Edexcel Economics A’ – this course has been specifically chosen over its counterpart ‘Edexcel Economics B’ due to its use of academic theories rather than Business context reliance. We have offered Economics A as an academic and challenging course for students with high abilities within the sixth form and this course offers a theoretical look into the subject with many of the key economists and models linking to university courses our students have gone on to study.
For this class, we ensure our students achieve the recognised Grade 4 or 5 pass at English Language GCSE in the November sitting. This grade enfranchises them in the local, national and global workforce and further education if required. In doing so, this class perfectly models the school’s overall vision of advantaging our students who have suffered disadvantaged and enabling their social equity and mobility.

We offer A Level Further mathematics to students who have a drive for mathematics and have the ability to take maths beyond 6th form. It is taught as a parallel subject to A level maths with the expectation that students taking Further maths would do exceptionally well in A level maths.
Increase understanding of the chronology and themes in history both within Britain, and in the wider world. Encourage students to think like a historian when crafting interpretations of the past, or handling historical sources. Encourage students to understand key world issues such as freedoms, rights, democracy and how society has been formed.
Stepney Green Maths, Computing and Science College (SGMCSC) has been delivering Key Stage 5 PE options since 2014. The staff involved in planning and delivering the KS5 PE options have vast experience and subject knowledge which offers the pupils an enjoyable and comprehensive experience whilst they study their KS5 courses. The PE staff have a positive and responsible relationship with the Sixth Form PE cohorts and strive to offer their students the best possible chances and provisions to help them complete and progress in their academic and vocational studies.
At Stepney we offer ‘Pearson BTEC Level 2 in IT Support’. This course has been offered to post-16 students that are retaking their GCSE English and Maths, and essentially preparing them for level 3 education courses related to the IT sector. It also allows post-16 learners to continue their education through applied learning as the focus is on the holistic development of the practical, interpersonal, and thinking skills required to be able to succeed in employment and higher education.
At Stepney we offer ‘Pearson BTEC IT’ at Level 3. This course has been offered as it prepares learners for a range of higher education courses and job roles related to the IT sector. It also allows post-16 learners to continue their education through applied learning as the focus is on the holistic development of the practical, interpersonal, and thinking skills required to be able to succeed in employment and higher education.
We immediately guide pupils on a challenging but rewarding route to becoming perceptive and assured literary critics. Students are exposed to a range of complex literary texts from across the ages which we hope they grow to love and engage with on a personal and academic level.
Our KS5 Biology students have a high percentage progression onto STEM related subjects and we have also retained a high proportion of students to study KS5 Biology and many of our students aspire to Medicine, Biomedicine and other Biology related degrees.
Our KS5 Chemistry students have a high percentage progression onto STEM related subjects and we have also retained a high proportion of students to study KS5 Chemistry and many of our students aspire to Medicine, Biomedicine, Pharmacy and other Chemistry related degrees.
We encourage all our students to become successful learners and enjoy learning mathematics. We want them to develop a growth mind-set so that they are able to embrace challenging and problem solving tasks. We also want them to recognise the importance of mathematics in the wider world and be able to use their mathematical skills and knowledge confidently in their lives in a range of different contexts.

We are committed to ensuring that Philosophy, Ethics and Developments in Christianity is a challenging, inspiring, and engaging course. We want our sixth form students to develop their levels of religious literacy, conceptual understanding and be able to articulate their ideas about religion, beliefs and spirituality. Our curriculum enables our students to become confident learners and encourages them to ask questions about beliefs and practices and respectfully challenge different viewpoints. Studying Philosophy and Ethics at Stepney Green College enables our students to be thoughtful members of a diverse, modern and plural society.
Our KS5 Physics students have a high percentage progression onto STEM related subjects and we have also retained a high proportion of students to study KS5 Physics and many of our students aspire to various fields of Engineering, Astrophysics and other Physics related degrees.
Studying A Level Psychology at Stepney Green Sixth Form is nothing short of inspirational and innovative. As subject specialists we value ourselves in constructing a course that not only prepares students for the exam but promotes students to begin using psychological skills in the real world such as critically evaluating contemporary research, become empathic of mental health illnesses and being an overall advocate of psychology in real motion. We focus heavily on cross-curricular skills honing in on the importance of statistical testing, measures of central tendency and dispersion and understanding biological structures of the brain. All elements combined make up a course that bodes well with both Humanitarian subjects and the core sciences.
This course aims to provide students with the opportunity to engage with topics that will introduce them to the many fields of Sociology in the workforce. Much of the content covered is also relevant to social surroundings that people are exposed to on a day-to-day basis. Pupils will be taught to use the information they have learned in the course, and put it into practice in the real world. This could be through applying theories of education to understanding educational achievement in particular demographic students, the misrepresentation of pupil. They will also adapt in journalistic techniques when studying The Media. Crime and Deviance also helps to understand how social policies are put in place to deter from police officers.
The Pearson BTEC Level 2 Technical Certificate to Enterprise qualification is the equivalent of 2 GCSE’s. It is for post-16 learners who want to continue their education through applied learning and who aim to progress to A level or BTEC L3 education and ultimately to employment in the business sector. The qualification aims to provide a coherent introduction to study of the business sector.
The Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate to Extended Diploma in Business is an Applied General qualification. It is for post-16 learners who want to continue their education through applied learning and who aim to progress to higher education and ultimately to employment in the business sector. The qualification is equivalent in size to one to three A Levels and aims to provide a coherent introduction to study of the business sector.
The Creative Industry is consistently growing, with expertise being located in the UK, namely London – the hub of the film industry, fashion designers and artists.
The creative arts curriculum at Stepney Green appeals to students wishing to pursue a career in the creative industry and / or who have a passion for being both expressive and forward thinking. The curriculum in all three subject areas, Fine Art, Graphic Communication and Product Design, have been designed to nurture and develop existing talent and build upon individual skills, to enable the students to become efficient problem solvers; a skill that is desired at HE level and thereafter within the job world.
