Sports Day celebrates school and Olympic values
We view our annual Mulberry Stepney Green Sports Day as similar to the Olympic opening ceremony, sparking enthusiasm for the following two weeks of inter-house sporting competitions. This year’s hugely successful gathering – on Thursday 13th June – was no exception, with students from Years 7 to 10 competing in a whole variety of athletics events.
These competitions enable students to contribute points for their House in activities they excel at, promoting a sense of inclusion and teamwork. However, like so much of the activity across the Trust, Sports Day also goes beyond competition and we actively encourage students to embody the Olympic and Paralympic values: Excellence, Respect, Friendship, Determination, Inspiration, Courage and Equality. We believe in celebrating personal bests and recognising how each student contributes to the collective effort.
